Bridging groups

Bridging groups:-

A bridging group is the group that links the reactive system to the chromogen. While these groups are necessary for synthetic reasons, they also influence the reactivity, degree of fixation, stability of the reactive dyeing and other dyeing characteristics, such as substantivity and migration, significantly. The typical bridging group is an imino (-NH-) group. Ether or mercapto bridging groups have been examined but generally the bonds do not have acceptable stability. They are also less easy to form than imino bridging groups to a limited extent.
