Semi-continuous or pad-batch dyeing processes:-

The goal of this process is to apply a solution of dye and alkali and then batch the fabric as uniformly as possible. After padding, the beam of fabric is wrapped in plastic to prevent water evaporation and a reaction between alkali and carbon dioxide in the is prevented to prevent preferential drainage and kept in a temprature-controlled area to help ensure good reproduction Batching times can be 2-4 hours for highly reactive dyes and 6-24 hours for less reactive dyes. The fabric can then be efficiently washed on a perforated beam with a slow flow of hot or cold water.
