Disperse anthraquinone dyes :

This class constitute simple derivatives of anthraquinone (generally derived from a mino anthraquinones) devoid of solubilising gfroups such as sulphonic acid and corboxylic acid. The size of the anthraquinone molecule is large enough and since one of the requirements of disperse dyes is to have small molecular weight, the disperse dyes derived from anthraquinone should not contain bulky groups. Aminoanthraquinones were formerly used as disperse dyes for cellulose acetate fibre, however, they lack in light fastness because of the presence of primary amino group. Suitable modifications of aminoanthraquinones where the basicity of amino group is reduced and the presence of groups like b-hydroxy ethyl b-cyanoethyl etc. attached to amino group are common structural features involved in a large number of disperse anthraquinone dyes. Dinitroanthrarufin and dinitrochryazine are recently made use of as intermediates for disperse anthraquinone dyes. Typical examples of disperse dyes are dyes.
