Phthalacyanine dyes:-

Copper phthalocyanine CPC) is extensively used as a blue pigment under various trade names, such as monastral Fast Blue BS. It is chlorinated to get polychloro copper phthalocyanine which is a green pigment. Water soluble direct cotton dyes are obtained from copperphthalocyanine (CPC) by sulphonation. Direct turquoise blue thus obtained by sulphonation is used as a direct dye and is important for brilliancy of shade. Reactive dyes are derived from copperphtrhalocyanine by various ways. For example, the sulphochlorination of copperphthalocyanine, condensation with metaphenylenediamine-1sulphonic acid and subsequent condensation with cyanuric chloride gives triazinyl reactive dyes of copperphthalocyanine derivative

The various classes of dyes based on application such as direct dyes, acid dyes, acid mordant dyes, basic dyes, mordant dyes, vat dyes, sulpur dyes, disperse dyes, reactive dyes, cationic dyes, etc are already covered in the discussion of chemical classes of dyes. Azoic dyes, Ingrain dyes including oxidation colours and phthalogens, solubilised vat dyes, etc. are a few classes discussed in the foregoing paragraphs.
