Chocie of Colours according to Fastness Requiremen

by : --

Fastness properties of reactive dyes are generally adequate for most of the common end uses. Only for certain specific end uses it is advisable not to use reactive dyes. An example of this type is overalls, where fastness to severe laundering is required, it is advisable to use vat dyes or sulphur dyes.
Fastness to hypochlorite treatment and also to a soda boil is relatively low in case of reactive dyes. It is therefore obvious that warp threads to be dyed for woven striped goods, which would be subject to above mentioned treatments, should be dyed in vats and selected azoic dyes rather than reactive dyes. For most of the other end uses where fastness to hypochlorite is required only to safeguard against the presence of chlorine in normal detergents used for household washing, one should choose those reactive colours which withstand such a treatment.
