Semi-continuous methods fall into two broad categories:-
(1) Cold batching metods
(2) Hot bathcing methods viz (i) Pad (alkali)-batch (cold) method (ii) The pad (alkalai)- batch (hot) method. Continuous Methods offer high reactivity and solubility, and fall intoseven catogires :-
(1) Pad (bicarbonate)-dry process
(2) Pad (Na2CO3 Urea)-dry bake process
(3) Pad (bicarbonate) dry steam process
(4) Pad (Soda ash)-dry steam process
(5) Pad-dry-pad (alkali)-steam process
(6) Pad (bicarbonate)- steam process
(7) Pad-pad (Alkali) process (molten metal machine)
Each method has specific reasons, and advantages; and the dyer will have to adopt any of these above methods. It is impossible to describe all these in this short space and those who are interested may kindly refer to the relevant literatures of Dye-House reports.
