Reducing Agents:

1. Sodium hydrosulphite:

Sodium hydrosulphite formula is Na2S2O4. It is a white crystalline powder with a weak sulfurous odor. Although it is stable in the absence of air, it decomposes in hot water and in acid solutions. It is the Dilute of 10 ml 40% formaldehyde with 50 ml distilled water.

2. Glucose:

Glucose (C6H12O6) can be used as a reducing agent in vat and sulphur dye applications. It can be analysed by iodometry. Accurately prepare a 0.5% glucose solution.

3. Sodium thiosulphate:

Sodium thiosulphate (Na2S2O3•5H2O) can be titrated easily by iodometry. Accurately weigh a 5 g sample and dissolve it in 500 ml distilled water to make a 1% sample solution.
